"Women of faith networks are some of the most numerous, unique and innovative local faith-based organizations today with very profound potential for durable peace-building and development. In recognition of their agency, Religions for Peace convened more than four hundred women of faith from sixty-five countries in Kyoto, Japan, for the Women’s Assembly. The Assembly made visible the centrality of religious women’s leadership and global agency to confront violence and advance shared security. It also provided the opportunity to plan for the Eighth World Assembly in which women of faith constituted 35 percent of the delegates."--from Mosaic, Issue 9/10, Fall 2006
